Dr. Cynthia Boyd, DC
Oversight Director / Chiropractor
Initiating positive, permanent change in the body without drugs or invasive surgery puts Dr. Cynthia Boyd, D.C. of Symmetry Health Center at the forefront of an advanced type of chiropractic knowledge and care known as Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP®). As one of the only CBP® practitioners in the East Bay, Dr. Boyd uses highly specialized techniques that put patients on a path to healing and recovery, proven far more effective than traditional chiropractic methods. Dr. Boyd says, “CBP® is to spinal care what orthodontics is to teeth – permanent change.”
Early in her education, Dr. Boyd was fortunate enough to witness the profound effects of CBP® in a small chiropractic office, where classic symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis, migraine headaches, ear infections, asthma, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and TMJ problems were commonly alleviated.
Bringing this knowledge into her own practice, Dr. Boyd is well on the way to helping develop Symmetry Health Center into The Community Resource Center for Optimal Health and Healing. As spinal health becomes more widely acknowledged for directly affecting one’s overall health and vitality, the benefits of modern chiropractic are also becoming more widely recognized.
In a natural extension of spinal healthcare, Dr. Boyd now addresses the five principles of wholistic health through her practice: Structural Chiropractic care, Physical Fitness, Nutrition, Stress Relief/Management and Sleep. She explains, “The amount of chemicals people are given as part of their health care regimen is appalling. I’m committed to helping people refocus on the body’s natural ability to heal, something that’s under-acknowledged in the current medical system.”
Dr. Boyd continues to broaden her knowledge with the most up-to-date research while pursuing the latest techniques related to a diversity of spinal issues. She attends advanced seminars on an ongoing basis and is an instructor in CBP® at Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, CA. With less than 5% of U.S. chiropractors certified in CBP®, she wanted to ensure it was taught correctly while giving back to the same institution where she received her doctorate in 2005. Being immersed in a stimulating, learning environment with the latest equipment and resources readily available to her also benefits her patients.
With a successful history of applying CBP® for everyone from children through all life stages, Dr. Boyd is always looking for newer, better ways to help her patients. She was honored for her work and contributions in CBP® with the prestigious Chiropractic BioPhysics® Chiropractor of the Year Award, 2009, at The 31st Annual CBP® Convention. In addition, Symmetry has been consistently recognized in Alameda Magazine’s “Best of Alameda” issue. Her commitment to ongoing education in her field keeps her on the leading edge of chiropractic care in the Bay Area.
Originally from Boonton, NJ, Dr. Boyd has called the city of Alameda home for several years. Prior to her post-graduate studies at Life Chiropractic College West, Dr. Boyd was a 2001 graduate of Bloomfield College, from which she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a focus on Pre-Chiropractic studies.
Dr. Boyd has always been passionate about finding ways to enrich the everyday living experience and motivate her surrounding community towards living healthier lives, people she sees not just as patients, but at her neighbors.

Nutrition Consultant and Office Assistant
Lia comes to Symmetry Health Center as a certified Nutrition Consultant (NC) and Office Assistant. She believes that food is our first medicine, and that our bodies reach a state of health when we have nutritional foods as well as physical treatments to help our bodies find balance.
In addition to her nutritional training, Lia has a background in herbalism and a Master’s degree in Philosophy, and is excited to be able to share her skills as part of Symmetry’s dynamic team.
Initially interested in Philosophy, Lia achieved her MA at San Francisco State University falling in love with ideas of perception, and how our interactions with the world serve to shape both it and us. Feeling empowered to create mindfully, her passion for healing was piqued, seeing a need to help shift our culture’s relationship to the health of our world, our communities, and ourselves. Rather than pursue academia, Lia was called to health and sustainability, and started working in organic food sales to enable her the opportunity to support the growth of organic farming by speaking directly with people about their food options. She initiated thousands of conversations regarding organic foods and grew to coach and manage other salespeople as well, eventually managing the San Francisco sales team. As her role developed, her interest in business growth and management did as well, and she eventually moved on to create the sales department for another organic food startup in the Bay Area.
Despite this career growth, Lia felt that she had enjoyed working directly with people and their health, so she enrolled in Bauman College in the fall of 2016 to achieve her NC. As a new member of the team, Lia is looking forward to working closely with people on the path to creating a healthier way of life.
